Yes
Not more than 44 individuals of both sexes of eastern black rhino: 22 rhinos being immobilized for ear notching (group C=capture) and 22 rhinos being immobilized for translocation (group T=translocation). Within each group, according to the drug dose variations that will occur or eventual different drug combinations that might be used according to clinical needs, subgroups will be created in order to opportunistically evaluate the effect of different combinations and dosages regarding anesthetic safety and in limiting capture- and translocation-related stress for a research project titled “A study on physiology, immobilizations, and disease of Eastern black rhinoceroses (Diceros bicornis michaeli) in Kenya: determining ways of improving safety and success.”
